Why Aren't You a Podcast Junkie Yet?
This week Podfly is fist bumping Harry Duran, the co-host of Podcast Junkies aka The Podcaster's Voice. Harry's podcast is a podcast about podcasting! Although the description of his show might raise a few eyebrows, it's well worth the listen. His show ranges from an hour to an hour and a half long, but Harry's interviewing style makes the time just fly by.
Harry's show really helps you get to know the hosts behind the podcasts and why they do what they do. When you sit down to listen to a show, you almost end up discovering a completely new identity of the host. We get to know what their childhood was like, some of their favorite hobbies, and the detailed origin story of how they ended up creating their podcast. Podcast Junkies is also a great way to find new podcasts that expand your mind, soul, and everything else in between. If you're a real fan of the medium, then why not be a Podcast Junkie fan too?
Our very own Corey Coates had a great convo with Harry for The Podcast Producers series. Here's the Raw & Uncut chat!
Harry is originally from Yonkers, New York, but currently resides in L.A. Growing up, he fell heavily in love with DJing and was often the guy lugging around his equipment in milk crates at highschool parties. He loves electronic and house music, and, of course, being a Podcast Junkie. Wanna know more about Harry? Listen to episode 64 where Dan Lizette guest hosts and interviews Harry himself.

Podcasting is fun. It’s also hard work. Not surprising that since the dawn of this medium, podcasters have been crafting ways to make the fun pay off. Traditional advertising methods work for a select few - an estimated 0.05% of podcasters monetize their show via direct sponsorship - and finding vertical opportunities by leveraging your own business works for others. But what about those who neither have a large online listenership nor a business directly tied to their podcast?
Podfly’s Corey Coates takes you through the first of a series of tutorials on anything you might want to know about setting up a podcast. These specialization videos will focus primarily on Adobe’s Audition software, but this particular one is all about the basics and how to get started. Learn how to position your introduction, remove annoying ‘ums’, turn a few stumbling sentences into a natural conversation and much more.
With over 45 minutes of step-by-step teaching, complete with pre-recorded audio clips and examples, you should hopefully come away with a lot of questions answered. That said, the Podfly Academy Team hope it’ll also leave you itching to find out more and really get to grips with this sophisticated piece of programming which could just change your life.
Once you’ve worked through all the tutorials, you’ll be the one answering everybody else’s questions!
